The Yuletide Players, a group of classically trained session musicians from Baltimore, Maryland, was formed as an an answer to the Yuletide Allstars, also a group of session players but from Philadelphia. Running into each other constantly during session work, the Baltimore players realized that forming an orchestra was a good idea. Seeing that the Yuletide Allstars were signed to Rothmar Media, they approached management and asked to be signed as well. Sensing that competition was a good thing, the A&R staff at Rothmar decided to sign them. The result has been a friendly competition between the two orchestras, pushing each to higher levels. One might ask oneself just how good seasonal music could be, and who would put the effort into perfecting it? As Rothmar A&R head Ule Von Ditterman states " A good question. We knew we had an awful lot of talented people here, and we wanted to take this music to its highest form." The listener will have to judge for him or herself, but it is clear that competition and pride is good for the music.
